Poshmark Selling Tips

Stocking Based On Sell Through Rate

Booties are a staple I stock all year round, not just in the traditional “booties season” of fall & winter. 👢 Thanks to the amazing Sarah Styles Analytic Dashboard & Sales Report, I was able to easily & quickly identify that my shoe inventory has one of the highest sell through rates! (Leopard print booties available in my shop ✨HERE)

🤔What does Sell Through Rate mean?

👉🏼 Sell Through Rate refers to the % of inventory you have on hand versus the amount you sold. For instance, if I had 10 pairs of shoes listed this month & I sold 5 of them, my sell through rate would be 50%.

Once you identify your highest sell through rated categories, you can change your sourcing decisions to stock up with more of the category that is selling at a high rate.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

THE MORE YOU KNOW, right?!💡

Using Sarah’s super easy dashboard, I was able to plug in my data & see my sell through rate for all of the categories I sell…& I didn’t even have to do the math!! Hello time saving Poshmark hacks! Her dashboard helped me to see so many of the fine details of my sales – like for instance the fact that booties specifically are my fasted moving style in the shoes category!

📊When you use her analytics dashboard, you easily identify your fastest selling, highest profiting, best sell through rated categories, a list of your repeat buyers, percentage of sales that are made via Offer to Likers, a map of where all of your Poshmark packages have ended up across the country, & so much more!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’re ready to start using your data to help you grow your Poshmark business, then you’ll love using the Sarah Styles Analytics Dashboard & Sales Report! Her unique dashboard uses the data from your Poshmark Sales Report & gives you beautiful charts & graphs that display your data in an easy to understand format.

Oh & did I mention that’s she’s a total expert in explaining exactly HOW to use this data to grow your biz? Her YouTube videos are binge worthy, trust me on this one! 👩🏼‍💻

Poshmark Selling Tips

Why You Should Start Stocking Your Poshmark Boutique with Swimwear NOW

With the start of a new year, many people are eager to revamp their Poshmark shops, and with good reason! Winter may feel like it’s never-ending for some of you around the country, but spring and summer are righhhht around the corner! Time to start thinking of how you’ll stock your boutique with new seasonal items!

Why You Should Start Stocking Swimwear ASAP!

Right now is the best time to start stocking your boutique with swimwear and summery items. When you’re the first up on the scene to stock the coming season’s styles, more often than not you’ll be the first to make the sale too! You also have to remember that many large states stay warm year round. (Over here in California we’re sunshine all the time – don’t forget Texas, Florida, Arizona, and of course those lucky bitches in Hawaii!)

Take Full Advantage of the Selling Season

Early stocking means you’ll have a larger window of opportunity to sell seasonally specific items. If you wait until mid season, then you’re cutting down your time to sell drastically. Not to mention that as we get further along into the season many buyers will expect items to go on sale and possibly low ball you with offers. In short, stocking up on swimwear now means that you’ll most likely have higher profit margins and chances to make the full price sale. (High profit margins = more money in your pocket!)

Many brick and mortar stores do not have a large stock or swimwear yet, which turns Winter Getaway shoppers to Poshmark where they know they’ll have a higher chance of finding a cute swimsuit for their vacation.

Spring Break is Right Around the Corner

It’s important as a shop owner to anticipate your buyer’s needs. Posting early means you’ll be the one to guide them into the new season with fabulous styles first. Spring Break is quickly approaching – many girls will spend months planning out the perfect wardrobe before they flock to Miami Beach or Cabo for a few weeks of precious freedom and sunshine! It’s smart to have your Poshmark boutique ready to make these sales so that your buyers can be fully prepped when the first days of sunshine hit their states!

Chase Away the ‘Winter Blues’

If you’ve ever lived in a cold weather state then you might be familiar with the ‘winter blues’ that so many people experience when it’s just too cold to get out and really enjoy yourself like you would in summer! I lived in Colorado for a few years and let me tell you – seasonal depression is REAL! By the time Christmas was over I was practically dying to bask in the sun at the pool with a margarita in hand… I had to do something to really shift my mindset from being cooped up in the house or crazy bundled up in the snow to really shake off those blue feelings. So I would start shopping for my spring and summer wardrobes ahead of time online!

Retail Therapy is a real thing guys! I would always focus on my summer wardrobe and start shopping all the colorful sunshine styles ahead of time to help get rid of my ‘winter blues’. If you’re stocking your shops now with these styles, who knows – you might be helping others around the country to get excited about their summer wardrobes and effectively ending their winter blue moods too! Gotta share that PoshLove, am I right?

Poshmark Selling Tips

Tips for Making Fast Sales on Poshmark

Everyone knows that in this age of social shopping (and selling), efficiency is crucial to your success! This is especially true on Poshmark’s platform. Here are two of my most successful methods I’ve used over the years to ensure sales come rolling in everyday:

– Use Proper Keywords & Descriptions for Listings –

There’s nothing worse than seeing a gorgeous covershot of an item only to see the title is poorly written as “ cute dress” or “nice handbag”… there’s very little chance that someone searching Poshmark to buy a new handbag will ever find those listings…and they very well may be the perfect item someone was ready to buy!

Instead, fully describe the style, color, shape/silhouette of an item in your listing. Additionally, make full use of the category and subcategory selections as you edit your new listing. Many buyers use these search features to quickly find exactly what they are looking for!

BONUS: if you purchase inventory from WILA, you can use the exact title we provide since we always make sure the best keywords are included so you can easily find what you’re shopping for!

– Use The Price Drop Tool –

IMG_1663

This tool was recently upgraded to have two options: public offers and private offers to likes (the people who already like your item). Both are useful and will reach people interested in your item.

– Private Offer to Likes –

Personally, I find myself using the Private Offer option much more because it allows you to reach the people who are already actually interested in this item directly. You are required to offer a 10% minimum discount with at least $1.50 off shipping costs (there is an auto calculator included in this feature!) It will send an in app notification as well as an email to all users who like this item and will remain active for 24 hours unless the user declines.

    – Do note that users will only receive the price offer notification if you offer it 10% lower than your previous offers. However, that rule resets after 90 days…but most likely you’ll already have sold out by then! Also, if you ‘edit’ the listing after you’ve sent out the offers it will mark the offer invalid. So make sure your listing is ready to go and let it sit while the offer is live. You can still share the listing, just don’t ‘edit’ it!

Generally, I’d use this private offer feature after the listing has received 5+ likes or if the listing has been live for at least 3 days. You can use it as soon as you receive 1 like if you want, but I like to wait a minimum of 24 hours to see if they will just buy at full price. To use this feature, go to the listing, scroll down to price drop in the right bottom corner and select “Private Offer”.

– Public Price Drop –

IMG_1664

If you’ve already offered the private 10% off to everyone who likes the item and you’re still waiting for the 90 days to pass before you are eligible to remake the offer, you can always use the traditional Price Drop Tool. This means you will be lowering the public listing price by at least 10%. Everyone who likes the item will receive the app and email notification at this point, regardless of how long ago you sent them a private offer. My advice on this: don’t use this unless it’s been a month or so since you sent out your private offers. You don’t want to bombard people with offers, you’d like to use this last option as a kind reminder that “Hey I’m still willing to give you a deal…” without being like “Helllo, I’m giving you a good deal – buy my stuff!”

I hope you’ll give these tactics a shot when looking to ramp up your Poshmark sales – they have definitely worked for me if I keep up with them consistently. Let me know in the comments your own ideas on how you make sales fast!

TAKE ACTION:

  • Go through your shop and revamp your listing titles to have proper keywords
  • Carefully look through your listings to add appropriate categories, subcategories, and colors selected
  • Start using the Private Offer to Likes tool after you’ve revamped!

Poshmark Selling Tips

What To Do After You Purchase From the Poshmark Wholesale Portal

Congrats, you’ve taken the first steps towards curating your boutiques style by purchasing WILA wholesale items! First off – Thanks for your order!! What’s next? Follow these steps to start making sales right away!

IMG_2455

1. List The Items

As soon as you’ve placed your order with us, screenshot our photos and list it as “Coming Soon” in your shop. We always allow use of our photos after purchase – this makes it easier for you to list instantly and Since all of our photos are professionally photographed, they’ll add a clean look to your boutique. (How to screenshot on iPhone/Android)

IMG_2456

2. Set the Price

On your “Coming Soon” listing, we suggest setting the ‘original price’ to the MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) and the “sell for”price at a crazy high amount. (For example $1,000) This will ensure no one will purchase before you have the item in hand ready to ship and will allow you to start gathering likes on your new styles!

IMG_2457

3. Use Keywords in the Title

In your title, use an emoji after the words “COMING SOON” in your title to catch people’s attention so that they can like the items and wait for you to announce the arrival of the new styles being ready for purchase. While your at it, add a full description of the item & don’t forget to mention that you have a Bundle Discount offer!

IMG_2458

4: Mark the Brand as WILA

Don’t forget to mark the item for sale as the brand WILA! Since we are an official brand in Poshmark, every so often there are WILA branded parties for the morning slot (9am PST) you can share into for extra exposure to make more sales!

5: Share, Share, Share!

Even though your items may be in transit to you from our warehouse, take advantage of the fact that you have your listing all set up and start sharing it alongside your available items. This way you can continue to collect likes until you announce its arrival!

IMG_2459

6: Accept Order & Leave a Love Note

As soon as you receive your package, ensure the order is correct and “accept”your order via the app. We love hearing your feedback and sharing your 5 star Love Notes with all of our customers, so please do leave feedback when you accept your orders!

IMG_2461

7: Announce Arrival & Drop Price

After you’ve confirmed your order to be correct, it’s time to announce the arrival of your new styles and start making sales! Chance your title from “Coming Soon”to “Now In”, “New”,or “Now Available” to let people know the item may now be purchased. Personally, I like to use all caps and a colorful emoji to grab people’s attention! If you have anyone who commented asking to know of the arrival, don’t forget to tag them and let them know it’s available for purchase now!

Use the Price Drop tool (go to the listing in your shop, scroll to “Price Drop” button on bottom left hand corner) to adjust the sale price down to the correct MSRP. For those of you who are new to this feature, it will automatically send an in app notification and an email to every user who has liked that specific item letting them know it’s available and ready for purchase! Additionally, it will offer anyone who purchases the item within the first hour discounted shipping!

BONUS TIP:

When you are first setting up your listing, don’t forget YOU CAN USE OUR PHOTOS & the wording of our title to make sure it has all the right keywords to attract buyers and work within the Poshmark system. We often can provide sizing charts upon request, so don’t forget to ask for those after your purchase from us so you can also post those on your listing!

By the way, if you’d like to stock this sweater in your shop you can purchase a pack via the Wholesale Portal here!

Poshmark Selling Tips

Gaining Poshmark Followers With a Purpose

At the end of the day, you want as many eyeballs on your fresh listings as possible…this is where growing your follower count is very important!

Why You Should Be Actively Looking for New Followers?

Your follower count is an important aspect of creating success on Poshmark’s selling platform because that’s how you guarantee your items are being shown in people’s daily shopping feeds. If you’re not gaining new followers, then it will just be the same people who see your items day in and day out. Chances are if they’ve seen it a few times and haven’t liked the listing or purchased it yet, they probably won’t be attracted to it in the future. That’s where the importance of gaining new followers comes in. So how do you actively spend time finding new followers without feeling like you’re taking a shot in the dark?

Who should you be targeting?

Most of figuring out who your current ideal customer is means looking at the items you are currently selling in your shop. Using the various tabs under the Feed page, you can easily find users who are more likely to become your customers. Consider the following when looking for new followers:

– Do You Stock Popular Brands?

For example, let’s say you carry a fair amount of items that are all the same brand – let’s use Nike as an example. To find others who also have an interest in Nike, go to the Shop tab, under the Brands section click ‘All Brands’, search for the brand you are selling, for instance Nike, and follow the brand at the top of the page.

Now you can easily find others who are interested in the same brand you are selling. Go back to the Feed tab, click on the top left hand corner icon with the person and plus icon, 4 rows down will be “My Brands”, click and continue to click on Nike, and from there you will be presented with a list of people who are also into the same brand as you are selling. You can easily use the filters to get more detailed from there.

– What Sizes Do You Have Stocked?

To really get closer to finding your customers, consider the sizes you are selling. Are you selling mostly specific sizes? Mostly smalls, only plus sizes, specific shoe sizes, only to men? Use the filters to find other people who are the same size and show them some love with some shares and don’t forget to follow them! More than likely they’ll come take a peek at your shop…and possibly find something new for themselves!

 – What is the Seasonality of Your Items?

Always consider the seasonality of your items and where these pieces could potentially end up around the country. You’re probably not going to sell a heavy winter coat to someone based in San Diego or LA…but NYC might be a great place to target! Use the “My City” tab under the Feed tab, (person with plus icon in the top left) and 5 rows down you’ll see “My City” to find users to follow and interact with in specific areas. Use Google to look up common zip codes for cities around the country and input them here to find users in areas that are more likely to purchase and wear you specific items. Again, share the love with some shares and a follow and you are on your way to making friends with potential customers.

Sharing Others Items To Gain Followers

Like I shared in a past post,

Fueling Poshmark sales has always been tied to sharing not only your own listings on a daily basis, but by also sharing the listings of fellow Seller Stylist in the app. The principles are simple when it comes to seeing the benefit to sharing other’s listings:

  • The more you share your own listings, the more your followers will see your items in their feed. Thus having a large amount of followers means you will have more people seeing your items.
  • The more you share another user’s listings, the more likely they will return the shares so that their followers may also see your items in their feed, even though they may not be following you…YET!

The simple idea of “Sharing the PoshLove” is the most organic way to grow your followers, likes, and sales since it gives your shop the opportunity to be seen by new users who may not have found you before. Chances are, if you are sharing someone else’s listings it’s because your like their style…it’s a natural tendency that if the other user shares your items to their followers it’ll likely attract them to your shop since you have similar shop styles.

18056265_1730139957002868_2874357882182662050_o

Commenting on Others Listings to Gain Followers

Like the whole Follow-for-Follow idea that basically suggests you follow as many people as possible in hopes that they’ll follow you back, mass commenting is a method I’ve seen others use.

Let me just get real here for a minute…If you have a copy and paste message that you’re slapping all over my listings I will not respond and most likely report you for spam and block you so I don’t have to deal with it again. The idea of writing the same thing to every one is a poor marketing tactic that comes off as spamming in the first second you look at it. Instead, leave a comment with a purpose!

So you find a user who you’ve decided has some cute listings to share, you share them, possibly follow their shop, and now it’s time to leave a comment! Not just a copy and paste “cute closet check out mine…” kind of message, but a genuine and thoughtful message by the likes of “Hey there, your style is super cute!” or “Absolutely love your shop – great covershots!” Anything that is positive and kind without asking for anything back. Basically, sending good vibes knowing that what you put out into the world will eventually be sent back your way!

Commenting after sending some good vibe shares their way is a sure way to know that they saw you were in their shop, since Comments have their own space in the notifications page that show up right along side “added to bundle” and “made a sale” sort of notifications AKA the important ones.

Encouraging New People to Follow You

Many new users on Poshmark are eager to buy! That’s great news for you as a seller because you can capitalize on their ‘ready to buy’ attitude. In my own experiences, most of the sales made to ‘new users’ have been straight forward sales with no offers made, just a straight buy. That’s always awesome!

In the app, when you are in the ‘Feed’, click the top left hand corner of the person with plus-sign icon, 7 rows down you will see “New People”. You can easily point them out when out their profiles they most likely won’t have a picture up, will still have the general pre-made ‘Meet the Posher’ message, in addition to the ‘Posher since 2018’ label.

In the Facebook groups, many people have shared that they will go to the “New People” lists and follow as many people as they can and leave a nice “Welcome to the community” sort of message in their closet. Personally, I’ve tried this and have seen that many new users appreciate the welcome and are more than likely to follow you back and check out your shop.

poshfest2016-day1_web-2-38.jpgThe Importance of Authenticity

I can’t say it enough, but authenticity is everything you do on Poshmark and is key to your success. At the end of the day you want to be kind and be true. Marketing towards people doesn’t have to feel generic, it’s when you don’t show that you truly care about your potential customers that your marketing efforts will be overlooked. When you’re looking to share others items, actually pick items that you believe are beautiful. If you’re going to try the commenting idea, don’t just copy and paste; be honest and encouraging without being generic or asking for anything. Like Manish always says, “If you focus on love, money will come. But if you focus on money, nothing will come.”

I hope this post will encourage you all to be active in your search for new followers and that these tactics will help to bring in many new friends and customers to your shops! Feel free to leave your own ideas below in the comments!

Take Action:

  • Start sharing beautiful listings from closets and boutiques that you love within the app.
  • Take time to look through your shop and see if you carry many specific brands or sizes & start targeting users with similar interests.
  • Consider leaving a nice comment after you send shares to PFF’s (but remember just compliments – never ask them to check you out!)

Poshfest 2017 Chicago ReCap

22218480_1956037184413143_199554226299760496_o

Poshfest 2017 – the biggest Poshmark Conference to date since making it’s debut in 2013! This year’s sold out conference was held in the beautiful city of Chicago! Buzzing with excitement and gorgeous outfits at every turn, the Poshmark team and community came together to share, learn, and most of all love.

Poshmark’s School of Style ushered in a wave of fresh faces blending with inspiring PoshBosses from all walks of life, bringing them together to celebrate and continue inspiring their hard work as fellow Poshers. With highlights as amazing as the PoshMarket, PoshParty, Fashion Show, and CEO Manish’s famous State of the Posh Union session, this year’s PoshFest was complete with many panels featuring power sellers teaching fellow Seller Stylist how to successfully use Poshmark’s app & connect with the community to build their own success.

-PoshMarket-

On Saturday afternoon, the entire 10th floor of the venue was turned into a marketplace displaying fantastic merchandise from brands who help boutiques to stock up on trendy pieces via the Wholesale Portal. We were so excited to show off our latest fall collection at PoshMarket and be able to connect with the community directly to answer questions and inspire new boutiques to grow their shops!

We received so many compliments on our wholesale collection saying that our items were even better in person & that they were some of the softest fabrics they’ve ever felt! It truly was such a fun experience being able to connect with boutique owners to encourage them to build up their shops on Poshmark!

-Fireside Chat with Six-Figure Boss Babes-

This year, I had the immense honor of taking the main stage with the incredible Amanda Weiss @theamandaweiss & fellow #PoshBoss Evelyn of @ocposh30 to speak on the intimate panel titled, “Fireside Chat with Six-Figure #PoshBoss Babes”. It was incredible to be able to share my own story of how I’ve built my Posh empire from the ground up in order to inspire other Seller Stylists to keep working hard!

In this panel, I shared how like many users, I unassumingly clicked on a Facebook ad and fell down a crazy rabbit hole into the world of an app that has become my greatest career passion! Personally, I felt as if I was able to connect with each and every person who was at the conference because I have explored so many paths of selling on Poshmark.

My own journey has included selling out my own clothes as a closet, thrifting to resell hidden gems, scoring great deals at big box retailers and flipping for a profit, trying out the China sourcing route to start a boutique, researching local vendors, and ultimately finding a method that worked to build up my successful boutique and eventually curating a wholesale line in the Poshmark Portal.

As a wholesaler and boutique owner, I feel fortunate to know the in’s and out’s of this platform and use the key information I’ve learned as a boutique owner to guide new and graduating sellers to create their own successful boutiques! And now, I’ve started a blog to continue my efforts of living in the light of true PoshLove by giving back to the community by way of real life actionable tips for you to build your success on Poshmark!

How to Connect with Other Poshers to Grow Your Business

Community love is what makes Poshmark such a strong platform to make sales. Sure there’s tons of helpful features built into the app and the company simplifies the process by taking care of the backend of the system, but it really is up to YOU to keep the PoshLove flowing. Your sales depend on it, to be quite frank.

– Sharing the Love in the App –

Fueling Poshmark sales has always been tied to sharing not only your own listings on a daily basis, but by also sharing the listings of fellow Seller Stylist in the app. The principles are simple when it comes to seeing the benefit to sharing other’s listings:

  • The more you share your own listings, the more your followers will see your items in their feed.
  • The more you share your PFF’s listings, the more likely they will return the shares so that their followers may also see your items in their feed, even though they may not yet be following you.

17546838_1705772696106261_6243959761991414656_oWith the recent switch from Suggested Users to  the Posh Ambassador program, 5,000 shares of other users items is required to qualify for this coveted status which automatically promotes your shop to new users. An additional 200 shares per month is required to keep your place in the program. With these guidelines, it’s a great reminder to keep sharing the love! Learn more here.

– Connecting In Real Life-

While sharing in the app is a great tactic to gain followers, likes, and hopefully boost sales, it’s important to remember that there are actual amazing people behind the beautiful online shops in Poshmark. Meeting face to face to connect with your favorite boutique or brand owners could change the game for your as a fellow seller. Connecting with likeminded people, sharing ideas and tips with one another is an incredible way to grow your business!

-Official PoshNation Tour-

In early 2017, Poshmark’s corporate team decided it was time to hit the road and throw a bunch of in real life PoshParties to connect with the ever growing community! I was lucky enough to attend the San Diego, Los Angeles, & flagship San Fransisco parties this year. Usually held at a rooftop bar or a swanky lounge in a downtown area, TeamPosh knows how to put together an amazing evening complete with a DJ, raffles for PoshCredit and wholesale starter packs to sell in your shop, and a chance to mingle with Manish, the amazing CEO of Poshmark! Watch out on the official Poshmark blog for announcements on when they’ll be headed to your city!

-PoshFest Annual Conference-

My absolute favorite way to connect with the Poshmark community is at the annual conference PoshFest where Seller Stylist from all across the country come together to learn new selling tactics, share success stories, and make long life PFF’s (Posh Friends Forever). This incredible conference is filled with useful workshops where users can choose topics they are interested in strengthening in order to grow their businesses.

The inspirational Co-Founders, Manish & Tracy, always have a few tricks up their sleeves and no doubt  share insider information about where the incredible selling platform is expanding to and how us as sellers can prepare to be even better sellers in the app! Being able to meet the faces that make up Poshmark’s corporate team is such a treat – connecting with Poshmark as a company makes you realize that it’s not all about dollar signs and how many sales you’ve made. It’s about connecting with people and sharing the incredible passion for personal style while being able to empower each other!

After a hard day’s work learning at the conference and networking with other Seller Stylists, you can dance the night away at the ultimate Posh Party with all your new friends! The pinnacle of the conference these past two years has been the incredible Fashion Show featuring styles from top wholesale brands you can stock your boutiques with.
